The “RWTH Science Night” has been taking place yearly since 2003 on the second Friday in November. Every year, about 6,000 people attend the science night and enjoy its rich programme. The 2017 edition of the RWTH Science Night will take place on Friday, November 10, from 7pm in and around the C.A.R.L auditorium.
With its dynamic and engaging special events comprising interesting lectures, film screenings and musical performances which are suitable for young and old alike, the evening aims at making science graspable by providing education and fun through lively hands-on experience.
The Division of Earth Sciences and Geography is represented at the 2017 science night through a lecture by Prof. Lehmkuhl from the Chair of Physical Geography and Geoecology:
|Title||Our Way to Europe: Culture-Environment Interaction and Human Mobility within the last 200,000 years|
|Content||The collaborative research centre SFB 806 deals with modern human migration from Africa to Europe and the establishment of settlements here within the last 200,000 years. The project is a cooperation between the universities of Cologne, Bonn, and the RWTH Aachen. The research at RWTH Aachen mainly focusses on the climatic and environmental conditions along the "Eastern Trajectory" stretching from Jordania to central Europe.|
