12th DGAW-Science Congress “Waste and Resource Management"
The 12th Scientific Congress of the German Society for Waste Management (DGAW) took place on March 9 - 10, 2023. The hosts, Prof. Dr. Kerstin Kuchta and Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Siechau, invited to the TU Hamburg. The annual congress serves as a platform for young scientists to present the latest research results in the field of waste and resource management, thereby enabling scientific exchange on the one hand and supporting networking on the other.
The prestigious "DGAW Science Award" went to the presentation “Thermal sewage sludge treatment at decentralized sites - trial operation of a vortex firing system” by our research assistant Matthias Schnell. In addition, our research assistant Fabian Roemer also received a prize for his presentation about "Studies on the thermochemical behavior of SBR mattress foam".
We warmly congratulate the two winners on their outstanding achievement!
The Forschungskolleg Verbund.NRW was also involved with presentations and conference proceedings:
- Ellen Sterk, PhD student at the LuF International Economic Relations at RWTH Aachen University: "Clients' Willingness to Pay for R-Concrete and Drivers and Barriers to their Demand."
- Wojciech Walica, PhD student at IWARU, Münster University of Applied Sciences: "Evaluation of the recyclability of gypsum-containing waste in gypsum fibre board production"
- Pauline Jegen, associated PhD student at Verbund.NRW and a scholarship holder at the INZIN Institute. She is doing her PhD at the Chair of Resource and Energy Systems at TU Dortmund University: "RC concrete: Use of recycled aggregate for concrete production in precast concrete elements"
