RWE Excursion
As part of the Energy Resources and Technology course, students and staff from TEER were guests at RWE on 13 July. During the excursion, exciting insights into various pilot plants and test stands on current topics of future energy supply, such as CO2 separation, carbon capture and utilization as well as gasification, were given in the innovation center at Niederaussem power plant site.
The lignite-fired power plant and the Fortuna-Nord factory were also visited. In the Fortuna-Nord coal refining operation activated lignite (HOK), fluidized-bed lignite and pulverized lignite are produced in large hearth furnaces. The products are used in flue gas cleaning, wastewater purification and metallurgy.
