New project: Evaluation of available capacities for thermal sewage sludge treatment and phosphorus recycling
In November 2020, the institutes ISA and TEER of RWTH Aachen University received the commission from the UBA (Umweltbundesamt, Federal Environment Agency) to carry out the project "Evaluation of available capacities for thermal sewage sludge treatment and phosphorus recycling". In the project, analyses of the current situation regarding thermal sewage sludge treatment and P-recycling are carried out and the available treatment capacities until 2029 are forecasted. For this purpose, current processes and technologies are identified and comparatively evaluated, for example regarding the technology readiness level (TRL). On this basis, recommendations for a German phosphorus strategy will be presented.
