11th DGAW-Science Congress “Waste and Resource Management" on March 17-18, 2022 at TU Dresden
The 11th Scientific Congress of the German Society for Waste Management (DGAW) took place on March 17 - 18, 2022. The host, Professor Christina Dornack, invited to the TU Dresden. The annual congress serves as a platform for young scientists to present the latest research results in the field of waste and resource management, thereby enabling scientific exchange on the one hand and supporting networking on the other.
The event comprised over 20 lectures and 40 poster presentations on the topics of analytics, thermal and biological processes, waste and sorting technology, minerals and (international) recycling management. The topic area of thermal processes, led by Professor Quicker, included presentations on the recycling of plastic fractions and biogenic residues. Our senior engineer, Kevin Carl, also presented his research results in this subject area on the topic: "Plastic gasification in a wood-lime fixed bed: a new process for recycling difficult fractions".
The prestigious "DGAW Science Award" went to the presentation "Sensor-based prediction of particle size distributions by machine learning models based on 3D - laser triangulation measurements" by Nils Kroell, research associate at our partner institute ANTS. In addition, our research assistant Kirsten Stark received a prize for her exhibited poster on "Experimental investigation of decentralized sewage sludge incineration in a vortex furnace - preliminary tests on heavy metal separation by additivation".
We warmly congratulate the two winners on their outstanding achievement!
